Staithes Moonlight

£24.99£200.00

Title: Staithes Moonlight

The lookout is a great place to sit and watch the village, the bench area is adorned with the names of people passed and words from loved ones who enjoyed the view together. I saw two boys and their dog playing in one of the gardens far below under the wheeling gulls. Not the typical play you see in any suburban garden… they and the dog bounced around on upturned boats, clambered around through lobster pots and swung big old metal fishing weights around like they were something out of game of thrones. Their football floated slowly down the river out to sea and the dog had a good swim in the beck but it wasn’t inclined to fetch the ball this time. I heard the shout of a parent, time for tea, as they call it in the north. The town hunkered down for the night, the sea gulls settled down on to the cliffs and the lights of the village came on one by one. Staithes has a sense of peace and calm, even in the early throes of the incoming storm Ciara it was calm and sheltered in its valley. I watched the moon rise over the bay up through the clouds, casting a bright glow over the sea. The chill of the night set in, time it was to head home.
